Our moorings are serviced annually in the spring. Applications are open from 1st November each year.
The Duchy of Cornwall offices hold the chart of the Helford River, here you’ll find the master chart for our moorings and their specific placement on the riverbed.
We work closely with the Duchy to make sure that the right vessels go on the right moorings and we take great care in ensuring a harmony between both mooring providers.

Our moorings consist of a granite block and we offer a variety of sizes and weights depending on your vessel. Large tested shackles secure the moorings to the ground. We also use thrasher chains, which take all the strain between our moorings and your vessel in tough conditions such as gale force winds.
Between the ground chain and the riser chain is a swivel, which takes care of the tides and winds. Pre-tested shackles join the chains together and a large support buoy holds the small and light riser chain afloat. We tailor chains to suit each vessel and to ensure optimum length and strength.

To attach your vessel we use a lighter chain. It fits through your bow fairlead and over your cleat. You can use a rope connection as a pickup if you prefer, however you will have to provide your own. We are happy to put you in touch with our mooring maintenance contractors to organise a fitting.
All the chain and load bearing shackles that we use are pre-tested.
